Signed for a hefty £13m upon Jose Mourinho’s arrival at Chelsea, the full back played a significant role in the club’s back-to-back Premier League title in his first two seasons at Stamford Bridge.
The next seven years saw Ferreira being used sparingly as managers came and went, bringing in various players to fill the right back spot instead of the Portuguese international. Nonetheless, Ferreira stayed at the club, and was always a reliable performer when called upon.
He received a rousing reception when bidding farewell on the pitch in his last game for the Blues and his cult status has continued with his role as the man responsible for pre-season training for Chelsea’s horde of loan players.
