UEFA Champions League final 2017 will be held at Millenium Stadium, Cardiff which is also the home stadium of Championship side Cardiff City. The Europa League final will be conducted at Stockholm, Sweden and Macedonia have got the rights to play host to the UEFA Super Cup game of that season. Speculations were there regarding the news since last week when Sky Sports had broke the news that Millenium Stadium might get an opportunity to host the grand final. The news has finally been confirmed today.

The official website of the European football’s governing body UEFA has also confirmed the news. The decision was taken at the executive commitee’s meeting held in Prague. This the second time a European club football competition will be held at the Cardiff City stadium. Last season’s UEFA Super Cup match was held at the same venue, the match was played between Champions League winning Real Madrid side and Europa League champions Sevilla FC.

The Millenium stadium hosted its first match in June 1999, the Welsh rugby won their inaugural match against South Africa.
The Stadium Played host to the Welsh national football team for the first time on 29 March 2000. Jari Litmanen scored the stadium’s first international goal in a 2-1 triumph for Finland.
Hosted the FA Cup final for a six-year spell from 2001 to 2006 with Wembley undergoing redevelopment. Arsenal FC lifted the trophy three times in the stadium and Liverpool FC twice.
Also staged the finals of other English cup competition’s during Wembley’s facelift and became notorious for an away-team curse. The first 11 major cup finals were all won by the side occupying the home dressing room.
The Stadium’s seating capacity is 74,500 and it is used by Wales and Wales Rugby teams.
