Liverpool 3-3 Manchester United, 1994
We start with a classic trail of comeback by the home side for Sunday’s fixture Liverpool. It was 1994 and United were top of the league table, having lost just once game the entire season. United were 21 points ahead of Liverpool, who were 9th in the table.
United took a quick-fire 3-0 lead inside 25 minutes of the first half courtesy goals from Steve Bruce, Ryan Giggs and Dennis Irwin. Game looked dead and buried but Nigel Clough had other ideas. Clough pulled 2 goals back in 15 minutes to go in to the half time with a score line of 3-2 to Manchester United.
Second half was all about Liverpool trying to get the equalizer and that they did on 79th minute when Neil Ruddock headed in the goal to complete one of the most iconic comebacks in the Premier League history.
Liverpool 2-3 Manchester United, 1999
Given a chance, Jamie Carragher would erase this game from the history books as he was the man who scored two own goals in the game to hand United a huge win in 99-00 season. Carragher scored two own goals on either side of Andy Cole’s goal at Anfield and had a day to forget.
Liveprool looked like they were getting back in the game when Samy Hypia and Patrik Berger scored for the reds and it looked like another classic Liverpool comeback only to see Michael Owen miss his goal in the last seconds of the game. Certainly one of the Liverpool-Manchester United classics.
Manchester United 1-4 Liverpool, 2009
Not a day, any United fan would like to remember. After the 6-1 defeat against City, if any loss has caused deep wounds at Old Trafford it has to be this 4-1 result by one of United’s most fierce rivals.
United were the defending champions this season and Liverpool just came and blew United away. Cristiano Ronaldo put United ahead from the spot but since that moment, Gerrard and Torres ran riot at Old Trafford.
Torres scored he equalizer, Gerrard gave Liverpool the lead from the spot. It was followed by Vidic’s red card and even worse Aurelio and Dossena scored to make it 4-1 on the night.

A tale of last-minute drama between Liverpool and Manchester United. This game was played days after the January transfer window was over and Dimitar Berbatov made his debut for Manchester United. It looked like the perfect signing when Berbatov fed Tevez to score the opener for United inside 3 minutes.
The early goal did not dampen Liverpool’s spirits and it was helped by a massive error at the back by Van Der Sar and Wes Brown to give Liverpool their equalizer. Then in the last minute Ryan babel received the ball from Dirk Kuyt and slotted the ball to roof of the net to give Liverpool a famous win.
