Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has responded to the links of bringing back club legend Cristiano Ronaldo back to Santiago Bernabeu. Ronaldo has become one of the hottest topics of the transfer window after he decided to leave Manchester United. The forward is firm on his decision despite new coach Erik ten Hag doing everything possible to convince him.
While a lot of top clubs were expected to knock on the doors of Old Trafford in order to acquire Ronaldo, many have abstained from bidding for the superstar. Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, PSG, all were reportedly interested but backed out from the idea of landing the 37-year-old. Now, his former side Real too has rejected the idea of his return.

Perez cites Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘age’ to dismiss the links of his return
Cristiano Rolando’s agent Jorge Mendes was seen in Madrid last month, which fueled the speculations of his client making a return to the City. However, there was uncertainty over who will be Ronaldo’s next club in Madrid, his former side Real or their fierce rivals Atletico. Mendes had held talk with the Los Rojiblancos as well who were excited by the thought of landing the Portugal captain.
However, fans of both the Madrid clubs were enraged over the reports of Cristiano wanting to join Atletico. Now, Real’s fans have urged their president to bring back their all-time top scorer from United. While staying at a hotel in Helsinki for after Real Madrid’s UEFA Super Cup win over Eintracht Frankfurt, Perez was snapped at by a fan asking “president, sign Cristiano”.
The 75-year-old’s reply left the fans in disarray as he responded, “Cristiano? Again? At 38 years old?”. As evident, Perez is against the thought of signing an ageing Ronaldo. Moreover, Real Madrid already have Karim Benzema who is firing on all the cylinders since his partner left in 2018.

At a time when the Los Blancos are building for the future with the likes of Vinicius Jr [22], Rodrygo [21], Eduardo Camavinga [19], Aurelien Tchouameni [22] Perez may have a point here with the thought of deciding aginst the signing of soon-to-be 38-years-old Cristiano Ronaldo.
While Ronaldo still has got it at 37, scoring 24 goals in 39 games in all competitions last season, the fact that he is entering the twilight of his career cannot be forgotten. Nonetheless, after rejection from over half-a-dozen clubs, the Man United forward’s search for new club and Champions League football continues with less than 20 days remaining for the transfer window to shut.
