Just days after being booed by the Paris Saint-Germain fans in his last game for the club, Lionel Messi, on Thursday (June 15), scored a stunner during the friendly between Argentina and Australia in Beijing.

The last few weeks were full of turmoil for Messi as PSG fans turned up against him. Things turned sour between Messi and the club too after he paid a trip to Saudi Arabia without permission. Following the trip, PSG  suspended him for two weeks while also barring him from training or playing with the first team. Messi was also not paid during the suspension period.

On the field, he received hostile reception from the PSG faithful. Even in his last game for the club, he was not spared by the PSG fans. However, the controversies have not affected Messi at all as he hit the ground running in his first competitive match since leaving PSG. It took him just 2 minutes to fire Argentina ahead against Australia.

He received a pass from Enzo Fernandez outside the box and cut inside while dribbling past one defender. And before the Australian defenders could do anything else, he launched a rocket from his left boot to beat the diving goalkeeper with ease. Everything about the shot – height, placement and swing – was just perfect as a diving Mathew Ryan could do nothing inside the goal.

Here is a clip of the goal from Lionel Messi:

Meanwhile, Messi will be playing for Inter Miami in the MLS in the upcoming season. The World Cup-winner turned down offers from Barcelona as well as Saudi Arabia to pen a deal with the MLS outfit after leaving PSG.
