Arsenal take on Manchester City in a crucial Premier League game week 17 encounter on Monday night, 21st October at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners are at the second position in the league table ahead of the Cityzens who are at the third position with just one points less. Arsenal are on a roll at the moments as they confirmed their qualification to the next round of the UEFA Champions League last week and also defeated Aston Villa last weekend to continue their fine form.
Manuel Pellegrini’s Manchester City are on the other hand have some problems at their end. With injury scares of star players like Sergio Aguero and David Silva, the Cityzens have so far been on a roller coaster ride. Ahead of this vital Premier League clash against Manchester City Arsene Wenger addressed the media and spoke about his team’s current scenario and injuries. The legendary manager confirmed that he expects one or two of his star players to return in this game, which includes the likes of Alexis Sanchez.
During the press conference Wenger said: “There is one or two possible comebacks. Alexis Sanchez is a possibility, he is running.
“City is a threat. You look at their individual quality and they are in it. We will need a top, top, top level performance against them on Monday.
“We have shown recently we have a fantastic mentality in the team. What will be an advantage for us is to focus on our performance. We go into a top level game.
“We have played 16 games and the top team is on 35 points. Consistency is the main priority.”
Mesut Ozil has definitely been the standout performer for Arsenal this season. The mighty German has provided assists for goals in almost 80% of the matches he played this season. He has 13 assists against his name in the Premier League this season, which is a huge achievement.
On the German midfield wizard, Wenger opined: “He is the main provider in our team. Players who make you score are difficult to find.”
On opponent manager Manuel Pellegrini the Frenchman said: “I rate him highly on a human front and a professional front.”
