Wenger Explains How This Arsenal Star Proved Him Wrong With Brilliant Display against Ludogorets
Mesut Ozil is the name on everyone’s lips right now after his magnificent winning goal for Arsenal against Ludogorets in the Champions League last night.
The Germany international brilliantly dinked the ball over the hosts’ goalkeeper before putting two defenders onto their backsides and slotting into the empty net.
It was a wonderful piece of skill from the mercurial left-footed playmaker, although Arsene Wenger admitted after the match that his heart was planted firmly in his mouth during the move.
In fact, the Gunners’ boss confessed that Ozil proved him wrong as he stuck the ball into the unguarded net.
Wenger wanted Ozil to shoot a little earlier but admits, because of the outcome, the player ultimately made the right decision.
“You know, I would say the great players make the right decisions in the game situations they face. They always make the optimal solution,” Wenger told the club’s official website, per Goal.
“To me it didn’t look for a while like the optimal solution, but when the ball was in the net I thought it was!
“You wanted him to take maybe his chance earlier but at the end he had enough skill to prove that he was right.”

Arsenal fans feared the worst after conceding two goals in three first-half minutes.
Wenger’s men left themselves with a mountain to climb after Jonathan Cafu and Claudiu Keseru scored in the 12th and 15th minutes respectively, but Granit Xhaka’s goal five minutes later restored hope for the visitors.
Olivier Giroud then netted on the stroke of half-time before Ozil’s moment of magic, with three minutes left on the clock, completed the turnaround.
Ozil’s winner secured Arsenal’s spot in the Champions League knockout rounds, although PSG continue to breathe down their necks for pole position with two matches remaining.
“We made a sloppy start, but Ludogorets are a good team,” Aaron Ramsey was quoted as saying by Goal after the 3-2 win.
“It is great that we have qualified for the knockout stage and now we have the big game against Paris to decide the top place.”
