Wenger Ready To Let Boyhood Arsenal Fan Leave On Loan In January

A 14 game unbeaten streak at the start of the season has given the Gunners a solid base going into this heavy festive season in the 2016-17 Premier League season.

Arsene Wenger will be relatively happy with his team’s performances having also secured a game in the final 16 of the Champions League.

However, he has a few injuries to worry about going into the January transfer when he will get a chance to add some depth and quality to his squad.

Though it is not often that the French manager spends big in January but if recent reports are true, Wenger might just be looking for a quality addition at the turn of the year.

According to reports from the Mirror, Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce is eyeing a move for boyhood Gunners fan Carl Jenkinson on loan in January.

Arsenal Training and Press Conference

The 24- year old spent the last season on loan at West Ham and was expected to feature regularly at the Emirates this season. However, he has not been able to impress in the few chances he got due to the injury to first choice full back Hector Bellerin and is now a long way away from a place in the first team.

The Championship outfit are looking for a backup for Alan Hutton for the rest of the season and the manager at the Villa Park believes that the Arsenal man can provide competition and even establish him in the first team.

Though he is one of the very few options for Wenger in his position, it is understood that Steve Bruce is confident of his relationship with the Arsenal manager and that a deal could happen.

Having been cheered of the field when replaced as a substitute in a recent game against Southampton, Jenkinson would want to stay at the club and prove himself but his injury history and lack of form might see Wenger send him on loan Arsenal v Southampton - EFL Cup Quarter-Finalin search of some valuable experience.

At 24, Jenkinson has enough time to grow on to become a top class player for his side but at the moment, Wenger does not see him as an option in crunch situations and it would be better for both the parties to part ways.

But that would mean that that manager might have dig into the transfer market yet again for backup.

Wenger might also be confident of the abilities of the likes of Shkodran Musatfi and Gabriel in afull-back position and will hope that the Spanish speedster can keep himself fit.

But with a great chance to progress in the Champions League, Wenger should have enough depth to be able to balance all the competitions. Do you think Wenger should let Carl Jenkinson leave in Janaury?
