West Ham United agree deal for Liverpool target

West Ham United have a big summer ahead after some good work this season if they are to stay in the top half of the Premier League.

They are plotting moves for some big players this summer and are hoping to go into the next season at the Olympic stadium with a strong squad.

And it is now reported that the London franchise have secured the services of midfielder Havard Nordveit.

In the past, Slaven Bilic, the West Ham manager revealed his interest in the 25-year old and added that the quality of the player will see a number of German clubs along with a number of English clubs fight for him this summer.

“It is not only Bundesliga clubs but many clubs in England we have heard want him as well. We are also interested in him,” Bilic said in an interview.

The ex-Arsenal midfielder who is currently playing at Borussia Monchengladbach is set to be a free agent this summer as his contract with the German side end at the end of this season.

He has also in the past openly spoken about his interest in moving back to the Premier League.

“England is the big goal for every footballer in Norway and I’d like to try it out,” Nordveit said talking about rumors linking him to a number of Premier League clubs.

The 25-year old joined the Bundesliga outfit back in 2011 after failing to impress Arsene Wenger at the Emirates.

He has since made more than 150 appearances in the Bundesliga and has established himself as a decent midfielder in the country.

Clubs from Italy and Spain are also interested in the Norwegian International but it is now understood that the Hammers have secured his signature on a pre-contract.

Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp was also understood to be monitoring the player closely but the German is set to miss out on his target this summer.

A source close to the Hammers confirmed: “The deal is done, and has been put to bed – both parties are happy to have got it done and finalized, of course, an injury could still scupper the deal as a pre-contract isn’t medical dependent but everyone is delighted to have got him.”

Coming free of cost, Nordveit will be a good addition to the squad for Bilic who is set to let Alex Song leave the club this summer.

But the Hammers will have to get more firepower into the team if they are to challenge the best in the business in the Premier League.
