Leicester City and Claudio Ranieri continue their dream start to the 2015/16 Premier League season as they come away from Boleyn Ground with a 2-1 win courtesy goals from Shinji Okazaki and Riyad Mahrej.
West Ham came in to the game on the back of a sensational 2-0 opening day win against Arsenal. The Hammers were expected to have it easy against the side who finished 17th last season, however, Leicester had other ideas when they took the lead on 27 minute mark from their Japanese striker Okazaki’s headed goal after neat work on the wings from Jamie Vardy.
Riyad Mahrez has been a revelation this season so far and he added his third goal of this season on 38 minute mark when he fired a shot from 10 yards range to double the away side’s advantage. Ranieri opted to play with an unchanged side despite his reputation of being the tinker man and it paid off as Leicester looked like a team who looked like a unit.
West Ham looked to have pulled themselves back in to the game when the new boy Dimitri Payet scored on 55 minute mark but it wasn’t enough for the home side. What was more disappointing to see was West Ham’s incapability to create clear cut chances during the latter stage of the game.
Not only that, their number one goal keeper Adrian was sent off in the closing stages of the game as he clattered in to Vardy trying to come off his lines to save Leicester’s third goal.
