Willian Leaving Chelsea?? Brazilian Star Speaks On His Future!!
It’s been a tough few months for Willian.
Having tragically lost his mother in October, he was granted compassionate leave by the club to grieve and help his family cope with the loss.
That absence has inadvertently led to fans believing that manager Antonio Conte isn’t a fan and has purposefully been leaving him out of the side.
He first missed the 3-0 win over champions Leicester City, and since then the Blues have recorded a nine-game winning streak, during which he has been restricted to appearances from the bench.
However, he did manage to get on the scoresheet when his side bested Manchester City 3-1 earlier in the month.
But he enjoyed a reintroduction into Antonio Conte’s plans, as Eden Hazard was unavailable for Tuesday night’s meeting with Sunderland.
And it turns out that while fans may have thought that Conte was not a fan of Willian, the player himself has praised his manager for helping to maintain his confidence while he coped with the devastating loss.
“The manager changed the team because I was in a difficult moment. I lost my mum and I had to stay in Brazil for a few days,” he said as per the Daily Mirror.
“I missed some games and the team started to win and play well. Pedro came in and he did very well.
“But the manager talked to me and told me to stay concentrated, to work hard in training and when I come into the game to try to do my best. I feel more fresh and good to come back in the team.
“He gives me confidence to get back in the team and train hard to play well. I am happy because I came in and helped my team-mates to win that game (against Man City).
“Sometimes the game is asking to change some things, to put in another player and change the system. The players on the bench have to be focused because, when you go in, you have to do something different.”
The news will be a huge boost to Chelsea fans, though, as Willian has been one of the club’s most consistent performers for some time.
Even last term, when the club slumped to a shocking 10th place finish, he managed to bag himself a total of 11 goals in 49 appearances.
