Yaya Toure Re-joins Olympiakos Post Rejecting Offers from Europe, Asia
Yaya Toure has re-joined Olympiakos.

Former Manchester City player, Yaya Toure has rejoined Greek Super League side, Olympiakos. The midfielder has claimed he rejected offers from Europe, Asia and the United States to join the Greek team again.

Yaya Toure played for Olympiakos first in 2005-06.

After joining the club, the 35-year old said,

“It is an honour to be back at Olympiacos! When I left in 2006, I said I would come back, and I am delighted to keep my word. I had offers from lots of clubs across Europe, Asia and the USA. Ultimately, I made my decision based on the special relationship I have with this incredible club.”

After spending days on the bench and being injured, Toure feels it’s now time again to let his football do the talking.

“I am as hungry for success now as I was when I first arrived here many years ago and I cannot wait to help the club win the trophies the great fans of Olympiacos deserve. It is now time to let my football do the talking once again. Let’s do this!”

Toure played for Olympiakos first in 2005, but that stay lasted for only one year, as he left the club in 2006. Now after 12 years, the midfielder is all set to fight for the Greek side once again.

However, Olympiakos confirmed the move but did not give financial details. According to a local report, Toure would be paid around €2.5 million ($2.9m) for one season. He was presented on the front of his new club’s fans on Sunday, and his new side won 5-0 against PAS Giannina.

The Greek side was third last season in their league. It was its lowest finish in 23 years after lifting 20 league titles in 22 years. However, they will compete in Europa League, as they beat Burnley -2 on aggregate in the playoff round.

Toure was released by City after a limited role last season. He won three Premier League titles, two League Cups and the FA Cup before being released.
