Arguably the best player at moment, the 5 time Ballon d’Or winner and Barcelona super star has reportedly answered one of the biggest questions surrounding his stellar career.
Messi has been magical in Spain where he has broken record after record at the Catalan club and is looking to win even more with Barcelona in the rest of his career. But even the most loyal fans of the great man would ask themselves if the number 10 can perform in the Northern parts of Europe.
Many an English fan comes up with a question if Messi would be able to do everything he does on a cold rainy night in Stoke and apparently the little magician was indeed asked about it and his reply was superb.
High-profile Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague revealed in his interview with Stoke’s former Barcelona star Bojan Krkic for Sky Sports.
“I asked Messi about that question,” said Balague.
“He said, ‘those people that say that should realize I played in awful conditions in Rosario when I was 11-years-old, with glass on the pitch, with holes and everything.’ And he was still good!”
Let’s not rule out a possibility that the Argentine hitman will end up playing at the Britannia with Mark Hughes’ side playing some good football this season. Top 4 is not too hard to achieve for Stoke and it might be a dream come true for many if Barcelona end up being drawn against Stoke in near future.
Messi has also been linked to many a Premier League clubs this season giving fans yet another possibility of watching him play in the hardest league in Europe.
Arsenal seem to be the club best suited to sign Messi as they are a club that play football similar to the Catalan giants. He will find it easier to get into the Gunners squad if he ponders about a move to the Premier League.
Lionel Messi was a transfer target for London franchise Chelsea in the recent past. Though the player comes with a huge price the tag, the rich franchise will be ready to pounce onto the player if he is ready to leave the La Liga.
Manchester United, one of the biggest clubs in Europe are also understood to be interested in bringing Messi to the Premier League. The price will not be a problem for the Old Trafford club who might just break the bank if they believe they can land the 28-year old.
However, Manchester City will be sure favorites to sign Messi if he wants to move to the Premier League. They are financially strong and are on the brink of brining Pep Guardiola to the EPL who would help them sign the maestro.
It would be exciting to watch such talent in the Premier League but the challenges it poses will surely test even the greatest.
Do you think Lionel Messi will play in the EPL in his life-time?
