The victory over Middlesbrough in the Premier League at the weekend finally lifted Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United into the top-5 for the first time this year.
The red Devils are currently in the 5th place in the points table with the 52 points from 27 games, just four points of Liverpool who are in the fourth place. They have also played two games less than they arrivals and have a decent chance of beating them in the qualification for the Champions League.
However, the manager now has a problem in his hand of keeping his most effective player at the club next season.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic the leading goal scorer for the Manchester outfit this season in all competition has 26 goals to his name and stands as one of the most productive forwards in Europe.
He moved to the old transferred from PSG on a free transfer at the start of the season on a one year deal and reports have suggested that he could leave the club at the end of the term.
Stories circulating around the country claim that the Swedish International is close to an exit with interests coming from the MLS and also from China.
His representative, Mino Raiola has revealed that he has received offers from a new club and that the player is open to a move.
The manager is desperate to keep him in England and has already offered him a 2two year extension but Zlatan is only ready to put pen to paper on one condition.
According to reports from the Sun, the 36 year old is holding out on a weekly pay of £300,000 a week. The report also suggests that Manchester United are ready to pay him to £260,000 a week on his new contract.
These negotiations have been going for too long and it is now reported that Mourinho has given up on the striker and has already identified his replacement for the next season.
That is according to Spanish media outfit Dan Balon who claim that Everton star Romelu Lukaku is a prime target for the Red Devils this summer.
The Belgian International has been on fire, scoring 21 goals already this season in the league for the Merseyside outfit, becoming the first player to do so for the club.
He has helped lift Everton to the 7th place, level on points with Arsenal, but he is not happy with the progress the club has made in recent years and has recently revealed that he is ready to quit the club at the end of the season.
Mourinho has already worked under the Belgian in his time at the Stamford Bridge and is now determined to get him to the Old Trafford this summer.
The likes of Chelsea Real Madrid and Juventus are all interested in the 23 year old who will be up for grabs at just 60 million pounds in the summer.
Manchester United will still try to work things out with the Swedish star but the Premier League experience of Lukaku could be the difference for them next season. Do you think there will be able to land him?
