Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has welcomed Angel Di Maria in advance to the Ligue 1 champions as the Argentine’s arrival slowly becomes imminent.
The out of favour winger was supposed to join the Premier League side for the pre-season tour on 25th of July, Saturday, but he did not turn up. According to media reports, Di Maria apparently ‘missed his flight’. After this incident it was pretty much evident that Angel Di Maria will leave the club this summer and PSG would be his likely destination. United manager Louis van Gaal confirmed on Saturday night that Di Maria had not joined up with his team-mates on their pre-season tour as expected.
PSG coach Laurent Blanc on the other hand further ignited the flame by saying that there is a “good possibility” the former Real Madrid man will move to Parc des Princes this summer. Blanc had revealed that he is ‘hopeful’ that the player will come to USA and choose PSG over United.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic on asked by French media Le Perisen about Di Maria’s transfer said: “Welcome to him, he will bring his qualities, he is a good player, With him the team will be better.”
The star striker’s statement now almost clarifies all doubts over Angel Di Maria transfer saga. The Argentine is due to join the club this week, according to media reports.
Regarding his own future at the club, Ibrahimovic revealed that he will be staying at PSG this summer, and he reiterated that stance in his latest interview: “I will remain in Paris, where I am happy”.
Zlatan was linked with a move away from the club this summer. The 34-year-old striker was even linked with Manchester United. But his statement has kept all rumours to halt.
