Former CSK bowling coach Lakshmipathy Balaji opinioned Chennai Super Kings always plays a fearless brand of cricket with a lot of passion and dedication and stressed England Skipper Ben Stokes could be a game-changer for the four-time champions in IPL 2023.
Former Indian pacer Lakshmipathy Balaji who was part of Chennai Super Kings support staff since his retirement from cricket, has been replaced by Dwayne Bravo as the bowling coach this season. Balaji speaking to the Indian Express believes Chennai Super Kings have a balanced unit and expressed his confidence that CSK will do well this season.
“The CSK side looks good as it ticks all the boxes. The team is sure to perform well this season. At the preparatory camp, the players, in particular the new ones, would have been briefed about their role and the camp would have helped all the players bond,’’ Lakshmipathy Balaji Said
Lakshmipathy Balaji further asserted that CSK opener Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway can make a good opening pair for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023, as they had a fantastic opening partnership in the second half of the IPL 2022. With four-time champions picking up Ben Stokes for Whopping 16.25 crores, according to Balaji, he can be used in the finisher role for CSK.
‘’Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway can make a good opening pair. Ambati Rayudu can play the role of Raina. It is difficult to play the role of Dhoni. But Ben Stokes can be groomed to be the finisher that CSK will look forward to in the future. Stokes with his attacking brand of cricket could be the game changer that CSK is looking for” Balaji added
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on Gujarat Titans (GT) in the opening encounter on March 31, at Ahmedabad. The Chennai-based franchise will look to make comeback in the season after a poor season in 2022.
