Indian skipper Rohit Sharma revealed an interesting answer about the possibility of resting him in a few games for Mumbai Indians to manage his world load ahead of the important WTC finals and ODI world cup later this year. Rohit Sharma will be eyeing the sixth title for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023.
Team India has struggled with a spate of injuries in recent months, which include Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and Prasidh Krishna. Workload management has always been discussed in IPL, especially for Indian players. Speaking on his workload management, Rohit Sharma said
“In terms of me resting, I think Mark (Boucher) will give you an answer to that,” Rohit Sharma said.
Rohit Sharma said Mark Boucher would be the better person to answer this question and Mark Boucher responded and was a little diplomatic in his answer, stating hopeful Rohit Sharma doesn’t want to rest and also added they won’t mind him resting in 1 or 2 games for the Mumbai Indians.
“In regards to resting Rohit, he is the captain. Hopefully, he gets into some good sort of form and I hope he doesn’t want to rest. But yeah, we all adapt to different situations. If I can get the best out of him as a captain and player, that will be great. If it means he wants to rest 1 or 2 games, then I will do that. Absolutely, no problem.” Mark Boucher Said
Earlier it was reported, the Indian skipper will be rested for a few games, and Suryakumar Yadav will act as a stand-in skipper in Sharma’s place. It will be interesting to see whether how Indian players manage their workload in IPL 2023.
Mumbai Indians Have One Of Strongest Batting Lineup In The League
Mumbai Indians are having a solid preparation going into the season under their head coach Mark Boucher and skipper Rohit Sharma. Mumbai Indians will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in their opening encounter on April 2, in Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore.
Mumbai Indians have one of strongest batting in the league with the likes of Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Surya Kumar Yadav, Tim David, and Dewald Brevis, but their bowling is looking vulnerable in absence of Bumrah and a proper spinner in their lineup, but there will be hopeful of players like Hrithik Shokeen, Duan Jansen and Arshad Khan step up in the big occasion.
Mumbai Indians will look to make a comeback in IPL 2023 after a disastrous campaign in IPL 2022 finishing 10th in the points table with just 4 wins in 14 matches.
