Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had a dreamy outing against the Gujarat Titans (GT) as they chased down 29 runs off the final over to shock the defending champions on a star-making night for Rinku Singh in the IPL 2023.
Singh hammered 6 sixes and one four in the last 7 balls he faced when 48 runs were needed off the last 18 balls for KKR to overhaul Gujarat Titans’ score of 204. First Rinku hit Joshua Little for a four and six off the last two balls of the 19th over to bring the equation down to 29 runs off the last over.
Then he got the strike for the last five balls of the 20th over and Rinku made every one of them count as he smashed Yash Dayal for five consecutive sixes to create history not only in the IPL but also in the T20 format.
He was rightly named the Player of the Match for his 48* in 21 balls and was the star of the day for the KKR fans everywhere.
KKR co-owner and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan couldn’t control his emotions too and referring to a song from his latest blockbuster ‘Pathaan’, he tweeted, “JHOOME JO RINKUUUUU !!! Thank You Sir For Your Kind Words: Nitish Rana Mentions Rinku Singh In His Reply To Shah Rukh Khan
The tweet went viral as both Rinku and KKR captain Nitish Rana responded to it. While Rinku thanked Shah Rukh for his constant support, Rana came up with a brilliant response.
Since he was also praised by Shah Rukh, Rana corrected the Bollywood superstar saying that it was all Rinku and this is his world and everyone’s just living in it.
