3. PV Sindhu’s golden silver:
The 21-year old won billions of hearts with her heroic display at the Rio games. Ace shuttler Saina Nehwal’s early exit from the games broke many hearts but Sindhu gave an inspired performance to lift the entire nation. She defeated world number 2 and 6 to storm into the finals and gave the world number one a mighty scare in the finals before eventually settling for the silver. She became the first Indian women to win an individual silver medal at the Olympics.
