I went to No. 3 and the spotlight was on me. The fans had no idea whose music was playing and then when they figured out who it was, it was even more exciting because they had no idea what would happen and they had no idea that AJ Styles was coming to WWE.”
AJ Styles went up against Roman Reigns at number 3 on that Royal Rumble night that blew the roof off the host arena. It was the kingpin of the WWE against the most talented superstar in the indies which created a dream moment for the WWE Universe.
Perhaps, the greatest technical wrestler of this generation had lasted almost 30 minutes in his only Royal Rumble match before getting eliminated by Kevin Owens. Following the next two years, AJ Styles was involved in the WWE Championship matches against John Cena and Daniel Bryan. But this year, he gets a chance to enter the prestigious battle royal, again.
