The first post-Wrestlemania 36 match on Smackdown on FOX appeared to be a title match which was a rematch itself from the show of shows. Last night’s episode of Friday night’s hottest show saw new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross win their first title defense. The Kabuki Warriors – Asuka and Kairi Sane were their opponents who lost a chance to get back their titles.

As seen during the opening contest of Smackdown, the challengers were in control for a significant part of the match. Kairi Sane broke Alexa Bliss almost in half with a mammoth spear after the latter missed a moonsault. But The Goddess backfired with her pendant Twisted Bliss on both the challengers on the floor.

Money In The Bank Qualifiers, Title Match & More Announced For Next WWE Smackdown

This created an opening for the legal Nikki Cross to hit her finisher, Twisted Neckbreaker on Sane to get the pinfall win.

Thus, the rematch from Night One of WrestleMania 36 did not witness the titles changed hands as Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross successfully retained. It looks like WWE has already determined their challengers as they aired a backstage segment on Smackdown. The fresh team of Carmella and Dana Brooke must be the next in line to get a shot to the women’s tag team championships.

As seen in the aired clip on Smackdown, Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss confronted Dana Brooke and Carmella who were ready to challenge them for a title match. The champions consulted for a bit and then agreed to give them an opportunity.

There’s no word yet on when the title match will take place, but it won’t take place next Friday because Brooke will have to face Naomi in a Money In the Bank qualifying match.

It is to be noted that both Dana Brooke and Carmella missed Wrestlemania amid coronavirus pandemic as they both reportedly had some medical issues. Brooke was originally supposed to compete in the Smackdown women’s title match but then got pulled off.

Carmella is said to be the worst affected superstar by COVID-19 who had to spend times in quarantine before coming back on WWE TV, last night on Smackdown.
