Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez is trying to force a move to Manchester City by demanding astronomical wages from Bayern Munich, according to reports.
The Chilean international has been linked with a move away from Emirates this summer as he was reluctant to sign a new deal with Arsenal over the past year.
According to Sunday Mirror, the 28-year old is demanding a staggering £420,000 a week wages if he has to sign for German giants. Bayern Munich are reluctant to surrender to the demands of Alexis Sanchez as they will need to break their wage structure.
The German giants have some of the biggest players in world football at the moment and bigger stars than Alexis Sanchez but their highest paid player Robert Lewandowski earns only £13 million a year at Allianz Arena.
Sanchez has drawn interest from numerous clubs across Europe which include the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Juventus apart from Bayern Munich. Arsenal are looking for a transfer fee of £50 million if they are forced to sell him.
However, the club are also ready to offer him a new deal worth £300,000-a-week deal as Wenger is not keen to let their star player leave this summer.
Sanchez had scored 30 goals and managed another 19 assists for Arsenal last season making him one of the best players in Premier League. However, Germany’s leading newspaper Bild reported that Bayern Munich are not keen to offer huge wages to Sanchez and are already lining up alternatives.
The Chilean international is currently on international duty for Chile, in the Confederations Cup. However, he is set to miss their opening game against Cameroon after suffering ankle injury.
‘Alexis had some health troubles a couple of days ago and, on Friday, we decided we would let him rest,’ said Chile boss Juan Antonio Pizzi.
‘We will introduce him slowly so he can maybe join us later. He’s still recovering, he’s maybe not ready yet but we will wait until Sunday to see what’s best for him and what’s best for the team considering it’s the first game.’
When asked about the extent of the injury, Pizzi replied: ‘He’s had some problems with his left ankle, and it’s the same leg where he had the injury during the Copa America. One injury was an external injury, this one is internal.
‘He has been tested and we are quite optimistic but we realise he needs to recover. He is still feeling some pain so we will decide on Sunday.’
