Amelie Mauresmo the former world no 1 has been inducted into Tennis Hall of Fame. She is slated to experience double delight as she is expecting her first child by the month of August. She was inducted into the Hall of Fame this Saturday but couldn’t travel to the ceremony because the Frenchwoman is expecting her first baby.
Joining the 36-year-old Frenchwoman were David Hall of Australia, a six-time Paralympic medalist, and Nancy Jeffett, elected in the contributor category. Mauresmo, is currently working as the coach of Andy Murray and she has been successful there too and the results on Murray has been impressive than lot of his previous years. The Frenchwoman has won Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2006 and has been the no 1 player in the WTA rankings for 39 weeks. She has also won a silver medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics. She has 25 singles title to her name.
Hall of Famer Stan Smith said to the crowd that Amelie won’t be here to receive the Honour but she will be present next year. This is a great recognition given to the former no 1 and it’s a pity that the Frenchwoman couldn’t grace the occasion. Currently she is the coach of World Number 3 Andy Murray.
