Chelsea central defender Andreas Christensen has rejected multiple contract extension offers and has made up his mind on leaving Stamford Bridge this summer. AC Milan and Bayern Munich are in contact with player’s representatives but Christensen has decided to join La Liga giants Barcelona who have offered him a pre-agreement contract.
The 25-year-old Danish centre-back has just 6 months remaining on his contract with West London giants and due to that clubs can contact him directly without informing Chelsea. But Chelsea are working hard to tie down their one of the best defenders for a longer term. His defensive partners Antonio Rudiger and Cesar Azpilicueta are also out of contract this summer and it will be a big disaster if Chelsea loses all three. Another center-back Thiago Silva penned a contract extension recently but they are facing problems with Rudiger and Christensen’s contract issue.
Rudiger, one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League, is demanding high wages at Stamford Bridge but Chelsea are determined on their initial contract offer. The issue with Christensen’s contract offer is not money but it’s about regular playing time. Christensen has been a fourth-choice centre-back for manager Thomas Tuchel has installed with 3 at the back formation this season. Silva, Rudiger, and Azpilicueta have started most of the fixtures this term but Christensen has been regular due to various injury issues with Silva.
Andreas Christensen Rejects Three Premier League Offers:
It has been reported that Christensen has rejected a £140,000-a-week contract offer from Chelsea but the Blues are planning to offer an improved contract in the coming weeks. The Denmark international has also rejected contract offers from other Premier League clubs with respect to Chelsea and has made up his mind about joining a foreign club this summer.
Bayern Munich and AC Milan have shown strong interest recently and are in contact with player’s representatives. But according to a report from Sport, Barcelona are very determined to sign Christensen on a free transfer and the player is leaning towards joining Catalan giants. Barcelona are working hard to sign him on a free transfer as soon as possible because of a growing interest in the Danish ace.
Christensen has made 87 league appearances for the Blues since joining the academy at the age of 17 in 2013. This season he has appeared in 13 league matches and 5 Champions League fixtures as well.
