Arjun Tendulkar, son of Sachin Tendulkar, has earned his maiden Ranji Trophy call-up while Prithvi Shaw will lead Mumbai in the upcoming Ranji Trophy season as Mumbai announced a 20-member squad for the first two matches.
Arjun Tendulkar played a couple of T20s for Mumbai last season in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy but this is the first time he will be part of the red-ball squad. He was also part of the Mumbai Indians squad last season. Though he missed the UAE leg due to injury.

41-times Ranji Trophy champions hadn’t had a great start in the domestic season as they were knocked out in the group stage in both Syed Mushtaq Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy. In Vijay Hazare Trophy they finished last in their group, winning just one game out of 5.
The senior selection committee of Mumbai Cricket association consisting Salil Ankola, Gulam Parkar, Sunil More, Prasad Desai and Anand Yalvigi, have decided to go with youth as most of the senior players will be busy with their commitments for India.
Chief selector Salil Ankola backed Prithvi Shaw for the leadership role. The 22-year old led Mumbai to win the Vijay Hazare Trophy last season as he scored 827 runs with an average of 165.40 and strike rate of 138.29. He also led India to win the U-19 World Cup in 2018. However, this will be the first time he will be leading in a first-class game.

“Prithvi is a brilliant captain and fantabulous opening batsman, what else you need,” The chief selector Salil Ankola said to PTI.
Senior wicketkeeper Aditya Tare who was rested for Vijay Hazare Trophy has also made up to the squad. The bowling attack will be in the experienced hands of Dhawal Kulkarni.
