Arsenal are planning to raid Sporting Lisbon to sign both William Carvalho and Gelson Martins in a £70m deal, according to reports in Portugal.

Wenger To Spend Big

The Frenchman has promised the fans that the club will spend big in this summer window to bring quality players into the squad. Wenger is determined to rebuild the squad that could compete for Premier League once again.

The Gunners have already the move for Schalke defender Sead Kolasinac and are also very close to finalising the deal for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette. Having missed the Champions League football for the first time in two decades, Wenger is set to make massive changes to the squad.

Portuguese media outlet A Bola claims that Arsenal are eyeing a sensational £70million deal to sign both Gelson Martins and William Carvalho from the Premiera Liga outfit.

Carvalho has been linked with a move to Premier League in the recent years and was linked with Manchester United during the reign of David Moyes. The 25-year old has grown into one of the finest midfielders in the country and could eye Premier League as next challenge in the career.

Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola has also expressed his interest in Carvalho. On the other hand, 22-year old Martins is making rounds after his impressive season last year with Sporting Lisbon. He scored seven goals in 43 appearances in all competitions for the club and could be an ideal addition to the squad.

Arsene Wenger is also making huge progress in the pursuit for Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez. The Gooners could be in for an exciting summer if the rumours are to go by.

Club sweating to hold players

Despite their willingness to buy quality players in the summer, the club are also having a tough time to keep hold of their players. The likes of Olivier Giroud, Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all expected to leave the club before next season.

Giroud could be on his way out if Lacazette signs in search of playing time. Meanwhile, Alexis Sanchez, who is currently on holiday after Confederations Cup, has revealed that he had made a decision on his future and chances seem so bleak for him to stay at Emirates next season.
