Australia has named a full-strength Test squad for the Pakistan tour. Notable that Australia is set to travel to Pakistan for the first time in the last 24 years. The tour starts on March 4 consisting of 3 Tests, 3 ODIs, and one T20I.

Ashton Agar has been included in the squad as the third spinner who is the only addition to the Ashes-winning squad. Pacer Josh Hazlewood who missed the last four tests against England also returned to the squad.

The Ashes ‘sensation’ Scott Boland has also been retained in the squad. Cummins, Starc, Hazlewood, Boland, and Michael Neser are the five pacers in the squad. Jhye Richardson was already ruled out for the tour due to his workload management.

Josh Inglis has been picked as the second wicketkeeper while the opener Marcus Harris retained his spot despite the average numbers in the Ashes.

“This squad covers for all scenarios including the conditions given it has been such a long time since Australia was last in Pakistan, With several subcontinent tours and a one-day World Cup in India on the near horizon this is a great first-up challenge for the group after the successful home Ashes Series,” said the national selector George Bailey.

“It’s also a very historic tour given the length of time since an Australian side last toured Pakistan,” he added.

Previously Australia played 8 Test series in Pakistan but could win only two series there- in 1959 and 1994.

This series will also be part of the ICC World Test Championship. Currently, Australia is at no. 2 in the points table while Pakistan sits at no.3.
