BCCI President Should Come Out And Clear The Air Before Test Series, Feels Madan Lal

The former Indian Test player Madan Lal believes that Sourav Ganguly should take responsibility in this captaincy matter and clear the matter as soon as possible so that the focus will be back on cricket for the all-important South Africa tour.

Notable that Sourav Ganguly said in an interview that he asked Virat Kohli to reconsider his resignation from the T20 captaincy. But in the pre-departure press conference ahead of the South Africa tour, Virat Kohli declined it totally as the Indian captain said that his resignation was well received by the BCCI and there was no denial from anyone in BCCI.

The Indian Test Captain also showed disappointment with the way he was sacked from ODI captaincy.  As he was told about the decision only an hour and a half before the actual announcement.

“Virat should clear all his issues with the management”

Madan Lal opined that the whole captaincy matter should have been handled better though he (Madan Lal) doesn’t know what exactly the talks between Ganguly and Kohli happened.

“I think this situation should have been handled in a better way because it is not a controversy but a matter of opinion. I don’t know what Sourav had said to Virat so I don’t want to comment on that. But I think that Sourav being the president should come out and give an explanation and that will be the end of the entire issue. We need to be focused on the South Africa tour right now as it is an important game for us,” said Madan Lal.

Lal also seconded Sunil Gavaskar’s thoughts that Virat Kohli should clear out the matter with the team management.

“Gavaskar is correct with his point. Virat should clear all his issues with the management. This is not a big matter. I would say that the selectors should have handled the situation better. It is the duty of selectors to look after and stop these controversies. I am not sure if the selectors spoke to Virat before taking the decision.” Madan Lal stated.

Team India will begin their South Africa with the test series starting on December 26.
