On Friday, India wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha revealed a chat with a journalist in which he was threatened by the journalist for not giving an interview. After a couple of days, BCCI decided to investigate the matter as they are likely to ask Saha to reveal the name of the journalist.

After all of my contributions to Indian cricket..this is what I face from a so-called “Respected” journalist! This is where the journalism has gone.” Wriddiman Saha tweeted this with a screenshot of the conversation with the journalist.

On Twitter, Saha got immense support from the ex-players and also other journalists. But now BCCI has decided to look a closer look at the matter.

The matter cannot be put to rest until every single detail of what Saha has said in the interview and the tweet he shared is looked into,” A source close to BCCI spoke to Times of India.

“Saha is a contracted cricketer of the BCCI. The onus is on the Board to not let its own player down. That aside, if there is any kind of a nexus at work here, one has to look into it,” he further added.

It’s also been learned that BCCI will approach Saha regarding the screenshot of the Whatsapp messages for a forensic investigation.

If the sender of those messages indeed happens to be a journalist covering Indian cricket, the Board will take steps towards banning him,” the official said.

However, the BCCI is not much fussed about the conversation between Saha and coach Rahul Dravid. Notable that Saha claimed in an interview that coach Rahul Dravid told him clearly that he won’t be considered for India’s squad in the future as they want to groom a younger wicketkeeper.

“The Rahul Dravid-bit is understandable. He’s the national coach and may have wanted to keep his players in the loop. That’s between the coach and the players. What was the need for a BCCI official to speak with Saha and assure him of a place in the side? ‘I don’t need to worry till he’s there’. Kitni galat baat hai yeh (How wrong it is to say something like this),” the official added.
