Last night’s taped episode of WWE RAW witnessed the Women’s Champion Becky Lynch issuing a challenge to WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Asuka for a singles match.
As reported earlier, a match between these two is supposed to be in the pipeline for a long time. But it could not take place due to WWE getting short of creative options in recent times. But the buildup has finally started to set up the inevitable matchup.

Becky Lynch came to the ring on the Christmas edition of WWE RAW and talked about how WWE is trying to protect her and keep her safe as she’s the face of the women’s division.

Asuka and her tag team partner Kairi Sane would interrupt and taunt Becky Lynch from the ramp. She accepted the challenge only to declare her wish to become Asuka 2 Belts.
Update On A Huge Title Match Planning For WWE Royal Rumble 2020
This was an indirect message that the Empress of Tomorrow wants the Raw women’s title to be on the line. The segment ended with Becky Lynch delivering a threat in Japanese and informing Asuka to name the time & place for the potential bout.

WWE has not confirmed when the contest would take place but as noted earlier, Asuka vs. Becky Lynch for the RAW Women’s Title will take place at the 2020 Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

“It was recently reported, via The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that recent women’s division happenings have been done to lead to the Asuka vs. Lynch singles match, for Lynch’s title, likely at the Rumble.
RAW Executive Director Paul Heyman reportedly made the call several months ago to build to the match in early 2020. The Rumble would mark the one-year anniversary of the 2019 Rumble match that saw Asuka retain the SmackDown Women’s Title over Lynch, clean by submission with her Asuka Lock.”

If Becky Lynch vs. Asuka does go down at Royal Rumble then it would be the first-time since Hell in a Cell that the Raw women’s title will be on the line. Lynch retained successfully on that night against Sasha Banks.
