Liverpool have tabled a massive opening bid of £43m to sign Real Madrid starlet Marco Asensio, according to reports in Spain.
The Reds are in the market to make some massive signings as they will be playing in the Champions League next season and Asensio is believed to be one of their primary targets this summer.
The 21-year old is considered as the next big thing at Real Madrid and is rated highly by manager Zinedine Zidane as he managed to impress everyone at the club in his debut season.
Asensio moved to Real Madrid in the summer of 2015 as the club hierarchy signed him based on the recommendation of legendary tennis player Rafael Nadal from RCD Mallorca. He was sent out on loan to Espanyol last season before making a full time debut this season at Real Madrid.
He has scored 10 goals and made 4 assists in 38 appearances for Los Blancos across all competitions and is looking like the star for the future. He has scored against Bayern Munich and Juventus in Champions League this season and is attracting interest from a number of major clubs across Europe.
The likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Roma have all expressed their interest in signing Asensio, who primarily operates on left wing. However, the Reds are the first club to have made a massive move to sign the Spaniard.
According to Spanish media outlet Diario Gol, Liverpool have offered just over £43million in an attempt to lure Real Madrid in selling the player that they bought for just £3million a couple of seasons ago.
Jurgen Klopp is keen to make exciting additions to his squad as the Reds will feature in Champions League for the first time under the German. He is now keen to convince the Spanish club in selling Asensio which would be a massive boost to his squad.
Asensio has a contract with Real Madrid till 2022 and the club believe he has the potential to become the next Galactico in the squad. He has already shown the qualities that could destine him to greatness this season and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool could pull off the deal of the season in summer.
