2015 has certainly not been the best years in Rafael Nadal’s book as he reached just two quarter-finals of grand slam events and winning just two ATP 250 events at Buenos Aires and Stuttgart. Returning from an appendicitis injury Nadal never looked the same as he used to be and couldn’t compete at the highest level. Nadal even mentioned that he couldn’t play big points with confidence which was very unusual of him.
Nadal was unsuccessful even in the European clay court swing without winning a single clay court title in 10 years and none saw that coming. However, people put their money on Nadal at Roland Garros as the Spaniard is absolutely dominant in the Parisian clay, but he needed to face the world no 1 as early as in the Quarter-final and eventually lost the clash which was his second loss at Roland Garros. At the Wimbledon it’s the same old story again for the Spaniard as he lost to the German Dustin Brown in the second round.
After Wimbledon, Nadal has no points to defend and it’s all gains for the Spaniard and he can play with less pressure. Nadal mentioned that reaching the 2015 ATP world tour finals would be his goal, and he is trying to play all possible tournaments to gain points so that he can make it to the world tour finals which will be played at the O2 Arena in London .
Can he reach it, that’s the big question at the moment? The Spaniard looked good in patches but he couldn’t have a good run at the tournaments consistently which has been his undoing so far. The Spaniard can definitely make it to the world tour finals if he wins couple of tournaments in coming months and having a good US open will ensure his place in the world tour finals.
Playing with confidence and aggression is the key for Spaniard to get to the top which he lacked it so far. Can he turn things around in coming months? Of course he can.
