India beat South Korea by 2-1 in their fourth match of Champions Trophy played in London just few minutes ago. It was a dominating performance by team India who outplayed Korea in all departments.
In the first quarter no teams had clear chances of scoring a goal. It was a good display by both teams defenses. India dominated the possession and played excellent hockey, but could not convert chances into goals. At the end of first quarter it was 0-0.
The second quarter began off well for India as Korean goalkeeper made an excellent save. In the 7th minute India got a chance but could not convert that into goal. In the 14th minute Sreejesh made an excellent save. At the end of 2nd quarter it was 0-0.
In the first few minutes of third quarter India dominated the possession but could not convert chances into goal. In the 9th minute, a steal from Korean player, Akashdeep gave a pass to Sunil who made it easy and scored a goal to give India 1-0 lead. In the 13th minute India earned the first penalty corner of the match which was not trapped properly. At the end of third quarter India was leading 1-0.
The fourth quarter began off well as India earned a penalty corner in the 2nd minute but could not convert it. In the next minute India missed two back to back penalty corners. In the 9th minute Korea asked for a review of India’s foot but lost their review. In the 11th minute, Kim scored a goal from a long pass to level the score at 1-1. In the next minute, a steal from Korean player, Nikkin Thimmah scored a goal to give India back the lead. At the end of fourth quarter India won the match by 2-1.
With this win India keeps their hopes alive of reaching the gold medal match. Their next match will be against Australia on Thursday.
