Perhaps the most miraculous returns of all-time happened on this year’s Royal Rumble when Edge returned from a career-ending injury that stopped him wrestling, nine years ago, all of a sudden.

But he decided to fight against the what-ifs surrounding his career. So he trained hard to be back in shape and went through triple neck fusion surgeries to make the unthinkable happen.

During the documentary, Edge was found discussing how his monumental comeback became a reality. Reports surfaced last October that All Elite Wrestling offered him a deal to make the return.

It appeared to be true as Edge indeed earned a lucrative contract with WWE by playing them against AEW. Edge stated in the documentary that his cameo appearance at SummerSlam 2019 in Toronto where he speared Elias prompted “another company” to offer him a contract.

“Summerslam happens, and then from there another company within the industry contacted me,” Edge said. “They said they were interested and wanted to know if I could wrestle and at this point, I didn’t know if I could. So before I did anything, I decided I needed to go find out.”

After listening to AEW’s offer, Edge remained loyal to the WWE and Vince McMahon who always trusted him as a loyal soldier for his company.

So Edge decided to inform this to Vince and wanted to know whether WWE has the door open for an in-ring comeback. The Boss patiently listened to his words and decided to send him to the WWE doctors who were in charge of medically clearing him and it did happen,

“So, I went and sat down with him and I told him everything. It wasn’t like trying to get a bidding war going or anything, WWE didn’t even know whether this was possible, I didn’t know if it was possible. He said ‘Well, it needs to happen here. Let’s get you out to our doctors, you can take your impact testing and go through all of the testing.”

Edge was in a retired stage for nine years. His last match before his return took place at WrestleMania 27 in 2011 against Alberto Del Rio. Edge retained the World Heavyweight Championship at that show and retired a week later on RAW.

Following this, the Rated R Superstar returned at this year’s Royal Rumble as the number 21 entrant. After the WrestleMania win, he is expected to feature in matches for bigger pay-per-view events.
