Edge returned to in-ring competition on the 2020 edition of Royal Rumble that sent the pro-wrestling fans to a frenzy. It was perhaps the most surreal comebacks from a career-ending injury in the history of the WWE or any other promotions. The next night he came out on Monday Night RAW which caused this return to be shortlived, courtesy of WWE’s Apex Predator, Randy Orton.

A brutal attack followed by the thirteen-time world champion on his former tag team partner which was specifically targeted to damage his neck.
Such an obnoxious act from the legend killer was supposedly done in order to set up a WrestleMania match where Edge and Randy Orton will collide in a battle of supremacy. The interesting storyline will thus come to a proper culmination at the ‘show of shows’ which could take place in a special capacity.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that the currently planned Edge vs Randy Orton match at WrestleMania will receive “stipulations to be named later.” It’s unclear which additional rules will be there for this match.
But the main purpose of announcing a stipulation to this match of Edge vs Randy Orton is to get fans interested. They might add a gimmick match like no holds barred to really make the importance of the contest standing out at a stage like WrestleMania 36.
Update: Jeff Hardy Is Soon Returning To WWE Programming
Also, a traditional match would require Edge to take a lot of bumps. Adding a special gimmick could be WWE’s way of dealing with the situation to protect the Hall of Famer who has just returned from an injury. By adding a stipulation, they could let Edge work in a longer match without risking his body too much. As we all know, Edge retired from in-ring competition due to a broken neck which was surgically repaired before this comeback happened.
Edge competed in one last match at WrestleMania XXVII against Alberto Del Rio, where he successfully defended his World Heavyweight Championship. After a gap of nine years, the Rated R Superstar has finally returned to be part of WWE programming and WrestleMania 36.
At WrestleMania 36, Brock Lesnar will defend his WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre. The Universal Championship will also be on the line where the new champion Goldberg defends it against Roman Reigns.
