Manchester United legend Eric Cantona has blasted Barcelona forward Luis Suarez as a ‘blatant cheat’ with his dramatic ‘diving’ when talking about the pulsating Barcelona v PSG Champions League second leg match.
Speaking in his ‘role’ as the football commissioner on Eurosport, Cantona blasted Luis Suarez and Barcelona when talking about the PSG match, which the Spanish giants won, thanks to some very questionable refereeing.
In the match, which Barcelona had to come back from a 4-0 deficit in the first leg, Luis Suarez scored the opening goal and then won a penalty from a very questionable ‘dive’, to set up and create the incredible finish that it was. Cantona spoke about this:
“Suarez’s dive against PSG was football porn. He is not a biter anymore, he’s a diver. Not a very good one, way too dramatic. Such blatant cheating with this hand on the throat, look of agony, b******t! This is football porn. Kids should not be allowed to watch.”
All be it, it was one incredible comeback and one that you certainly will not witness every day. Most of the will and belief though came from Barca’s Brazilian forward Neymar, who scored a superb free kick when most people had thought it was over. Cantona spoke about how good the match was and Neymar himself.
“For some, it was a miracle on grass,” he said. “For others, it was the heist of the century. Either way, it was epic. There were only 12 people on the field who actually believed in the possibility of Barca qualifying: Neymar…and the 11 players of Paris.”
One thing for sure is that it has set up some incredible quarter-final battles, with all of them looking very tasty and exciting. PSG though will still be extremely angry and disappointed they are not one of those teams battling it out for a semi-final place.
