Dortmund, March 24 (IANS) Midfielder Julian Weigl has been left out of the Germany football squad that will face Azerbaijan in a 2018 World Cup qualifier in Baku on Sunday, the German football federation DFB announced on Friday.
The 21-year-old Borussia Dortmund midfielder suffered a painful bruise to his thigh during the first home win over England in 30 years on Wednesday evening, and was replaced by Emre Can in the 66th minute.
“Weigl left the team base in Kamen on Friday morning,” DFB posted on its website.

Making an international debut in 2016, Weigl has played total 5 international games for Germany.
Meanwhile, midfielder Mesut Özil is suffering from back problems and sat out the final training session in Kamen on Friday morning.
Germany reached Baku later in the day.

Germany earned total 12 points from their first 4 games in this competition by winning all of those matches. Germany is currently leading in the Group C points table as they are 5 points ahead of the current second-placed team (Northern Ireland).
