Bollywood actor Preity Zinta, who is also co-owner of the Punjab Kings IPL team, on Saturday paid a tribute to the legendary cricketer Shane Warne who passed away on Friday of a suspected heart attack. He was taken to the hospital after being found unresponsive at his place but was declared dead by doctors. He was 52 years old.

Shane Warne played 145 Tests and 194 ODIs in his career. With 708 Test wickets, he is the second among leading wicket-takers in the longest format. Also with 293 ODI wickets, he took his tally of international wickets to 1001. He played a huge part in Australia‘s World Cup-winning campaign in the 1999 edition when he was chosen Player of the Match in the semifinal and final.

Shane Warne played 55 matches for Rajasthan Royal till 2011

Preity Zinta took Instagram to post the tribute for one of the greatest spinners as she said that it was always fun to meet him during IPL.

So sad to hear that Shane Warne is no more. He was a magician on the field and such a charismatic and flamboyant personality off the field. I learnt so much about cricket from him every time I met him during the IPL and laughed a lot,” Preity Zinta wrote.

He was an inspiration to so many all over the world. My heartfelt condolences to his family. R.I.P my friend. You will be missed. #Legend #RIP #Gonetoosoon,” added Preity.

After his retirement from international cricket, Warne played 4 seasons in the IPL as he captained Rajasthan Royals in 55 matches. He picked 57 wickets with an economy of 7.27. It also included his trophy-winning campaign when he led a young team to win the title in the inaugural edition.

Another Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty Kundra, who was previously associated with Rajasthan Royals, also shared some pictures during his IPL times. She tweeted,” Legends live on”
