James Anderson was dismissed on the very first ball of day four and Australia finished a rain-affected day at 103/2. Alastair Cook became the first English batsman to carry his bat after Michael Atherton in 1997 and his score of 244 is the highest by a batsman carrying his bat. Pat Cummins was the pick of the bowler as he picked up four wickets while Nathan Lyon and Josh Hazelwood picked up three wickets each. The hosts lost the wickets of Cameron Bancroft and Usman Khawaja to Chris Woakes and James Anderson respectively. Only 44 overs were bowled in the entire day as rain forced early stumps.

Arsenal vs Crystal Palace

Alexis Sanchez scored a brace as the Gunners defeated Crystal Palace 3-2. Shkodran Mustafi opened the scoring in the 25^th minute, but Andros Townsend equalised in the 49^th minute. Sanchez scored two goals in four minutes to make it 3-1. James Tomkins scored an 89th-minute goal to salvage some pride for the Eagles.
