England beat New Zealand in thriller:
Kane Williamson’s unbeaten 112 went in vain as England held on to beat New Zealand in thrilling third one-day international by four runs. Batting first, the tourists were all out for a modest 234.
However, the score looked plenty when the hosts slipped from 80-1 to 103-6. But Williamson added 96 with Mitchell Santner and reached 100 in the 49th over, leaving 15 to get from the 50th. He hit Chris Woakes’ third ball for six but could not find the required maximum from the final delivery in Wellington. England are leading the series 2-1.
Australia on top:
Australia have put themselves in the driver’s seat against South Africa in the first Test against South Africa at Kingsmead, Durban. After Mitchell Marsh’s 96 and contributions from lower order propelled Australia to 351, the tourists bowled out the Proteas for just 162 to take a commanding 189-run lead by the end of day 2. Mitchell Starc starred with the ball for the visitors, picking up 5 for 34.
Venkatesh Prasad resigns:
Venkatesh Prasad, the former India pacer, resigned as the chairman of the BCCI’s junior selection committee. Prasad, who chaired the post for close to 30 months, played a key part in putting together India’s U-19 squad which won the World Cup this year.
Reports are suggesting that Prasad is keen on returning to coaching. There are also suggestions that the BCCI’s conflict of interest clause was the prime reason for his resignation.
Advani-led India beat Pakistan to win Snooker Team World Cup:

Riding on Pankaj Advani and Manan Chandra’s remarkable recovery, India defeated Pakistan in the final of the inaugural IBSF Snooker Team World Cup. India were 0-2 down in the best-of-five final played last night and were in huge trouble after being 0-30 down in the third frame.
However, the Indian contingent bounced back in style to win the last three frames and win the title.
