New Zealand vs West Indies, Seddon Park, Hamilton

West Indies won the toss and chose to bowl first in the second Test at Seddon Park in Hamilton. The Windies trail Kiwis 1-0 in the two-match Test series as they lost the first Test by an innings and 67 runs in Wellington. Kraigg Braithwaite was the Windies captain as Jason Holder was suspended from the second Test for slow over rate. The Kiwis started well as Tom Latham, and Jeet Raval opened the innings. Latham was dismissed on 22. Kane Williamson and Raval were then involved in an 85 runs partnership for the second wicket. Jeet Raval scored 84 runs before the Kiwis suffered a mini-collapse before Colin De Grandhomme came in a continued his rich vein of form and scored another half-century. Shannon Gabriel was the pick of the bowlers for the Windies as he picked up three wickets on day one. New Zealand was 286/7 at stumps on day one.
Hockey World League, Bhubaneswar

India lost 0-1 to Argentina in the first semi-final of the hockey World league in the rain affected match in Bhubaneswar. India will now play for the third position against the loser of the match between Australia and Germany.
The second semi-final will be played between Australia and Germany on Saturday at 7:30.

Spain’s Rafael Nadal and Gabrine Muguruza won the International Tennis Federation player of the year award. Rafael Nadal became the oldest player to receive the award and the oldest player to finish the year as World No. 1 since the ATP rankings began in 1973.
Mugurza, on the other hand, won the 2017 Wimbledon Championship.
