New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson has replaced David Warner as the skipper of Sunrisers Hyderabad for the upcoming season of Indian Premier League.

Warner had stepped down from his post in the wake of the ball tampering scandal. He along with Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft has been handed lengthy bans by Cricket Australia. BCCI also followed suit and banned both Smith and Warner for the upcoming season.

“We are happy to announce Kane Williamson as the captain on Sunrisers Hyderabad for IPL 2018, – K Shanmugam, CEO, Sunrisers Hyderabad,” the franchise tweeted on Thursday.

Disgraced Australia skipper Steve Smith could not control his emotions while addressing the media in Sydney on Thursday. Smith along with David Warner has been handed a one-year ban by Cricket Australia in the wake of the ball-tampering scandal.

“To all of my teammates, to fans of cricket and to all Australians who are disappointed and angry, I’m sorry. What happened in Cape Town has already been laid down…I want to make clear, as captain of the Australian cricket team, I take full responsibility. It was a failure of my leadership,” he said.

“To see how my old man and how my mum has been, it hurts. I don’t blame anyone. I’m the captain of the Australian team. It’s on my watch and I take responsibility for what happened last Saturday. I’m deeply sorry. I love the game of cricket. I love entertaining young kids. I just want to say sorry for the pain I’ve brought to Australia, to the fans and the public,” added a sobbing Smith.

John Isner thrashes Hyeon Chung to enter Miami Open tennis semis:

America’s John Isner continued his impressive run in the ATP Miami Open as he beat South Korean Chung Hyeon 6-1, 6-4 to book his place in the semi-finals. Isner smashed 13 aces to dispatch 19th-seeded Chung in only 68 minutes.

The big-serving American seeded 14th, entered the competition having won just two matches all year.

However, his fourth victory of the week has now put him within touching distance of his first ATP Masters title. He will next face either Argentina’s Juan Martin del Potro or Canada’s Milos Raonic in the semifinal.

Reigning Premier League champions will welcome bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday in a game that could define their season. Placed fourth in the table, Mauricio Pochettino’s men are five points clear of Chelsea and with seven games to play following the London derby. A loss in the upcoming game would be a big blow for Chelsea’s Champions League aspirations next year.

The hosts will take confidence from their superior record against the Spurs at Stamford Bridge.  Spurs have not won in the league at Stamford Bridge since 1990. Leicester City.
