WWE Crown Jewel is happening within a few days and there are a number of big names who are out of the match card. This is one of those times of the year where the so-called legends return to perform in front of the Saudi Arabia crowd. But the upcoming edition is going to be an exception with some of the regular Saudi visitors being absent on the show.
The Undertaker, Goldberg, Triple H, and John Cena are amongst those names who will not be visiting Crown Jewel 2019. It comes as a big surprise as WWE chose to opt-out these many big names, altogether. This may be a change in the policy of the creative team as indicated by a reliable source. According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE is making a change regarding how to use their top part-timer players. The report claimed that names like The Undertaker, Goldberg and John Cena will be used only for ‘as needed’ basis. You may have a look at the below statements from wwfoldschool.com to know more on what this need could actually mean,
“This means if a major event is coming up, it doesn’t necessarily mean that WWE will use the above-stated names (for example WWE didn’t use The Undertaker at WrestleMania 35 because the event was sold out, but they used Taker to sell out the Extreme Rules 2019 PPV because it was struggling in ticket sales).
However, it looks like WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg will be making the most appearances out of the above-stated names because RAW Executive Director Paul Heyman is big on him and is interested in using him multiple times a year.”
Goldberg returned to perform at Summerslam 2019 to compete against Dolph Ziggler with a rematch on the horizon. However, we did not observe any continuation in the storyline, whatsoever postponing the former WCW franchise’s return.
He is not coming back to perform at Crown Jewel, either. So, we have to wait a bit more to get to know when his comeback may happen. As for The Undertaker and John Cena, they are not likely to come back until Wrestlemania season picks up.
