“As a professional player, I am ready to go to any team”- Yuzvendra Chahal

The IPL mega auction will be held in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13. As the time is coming close, anticipation has started to build up among the players. In a chat with Ravichandran Ashwin on his Youtube channel, Yuzvendra Chahal said that it would be the first auction (since he is associated with RCB) when he can go to any team as there is no RTM (Right to match) card this time. He recalled the time ahead of the 2018 mega auction when RCB management gave him an assurance to buy him back with an RTM card.

“It’s the first time where I feel I can go anywhere because there’s no Right to Match (RTM) card, The last time (2018), RTM was available and they (RCB) had told me clearly that they’ll buy me using RTM in the auction no matter what. But this time, seriously, as a professional player, I am ready to go to any team,” Chahal spoke to Ashwin.

Speaking about which team he would want to play for, Chahal stated that he would like to go back to RCB but as a professional player, he is prepared to go to any team.

“Obviously, I want to go to RCB because I’ve been there for 8 years but it’s not like if I go somewhere else I’ll feel bad because everyone has to make a new team and it’s a major auction where there’s always purse constraints. Whichever team takes me, I’ll keep giving my 100%. It will take some time to adjust to a new franchise but that’s why we call ourselves professional players.” he added.

When Ashwin asked him to evaluate his price tag for RCB, Yuzvendra Chahal cheekily replied, “I don’t want to say that I want 15 crores or 17 crores, you know, 8 crore is enough for me!”

In the auction, there will be a total of 590 players who will go under the hammer during the 2-day auction process in Bengaluru.
