Indian Middle Order batsman Shreyas Iyer is unlikely to return in the second Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia and India speedster Jasprit Bumrah is unlikely to return to the team in the ODI series against Australia.

It is also likely that Team India could opt for the same Playing XI in the 2nd Test. The 28-year-old has been one of India’s bright prospects for India in red-ball cricket along with Rishabh Pant. According to a PTI report, Iyer is still doing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore for his back injury, which ruled him out of the ODI series against New Zealand last month.

With no competitive cricket for a month now for Iyer, it is unlikely that the right-hander will be directly thrown into the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The Rest of India will play Madhya Pradesh in Irani Cup from Match 1-5 and it will be interesting to see if Iyer is named in the ROI squad to prove his fitness.

Jasprit Bumrah Might Not Be Rushed For Australia ODIs In March

Jasprit Bumrah is one of the best bowlers of the decade and, unfortunately, he is not part of India for the important Border-Gavaskar Trophy coming up. While not a lot is known about Bumrah’s fitness, a report states that Bumrah is likely to miss the ODI squad for the series against Australia.

A few days back, it was reported that Bumrah had started bowling in the NCA nets and that he could make a comeback for the last two Tests against Australia if everything goes well.

According to reports, The Indian team management is unlikely to risk playing him in the three ODIs against Australia just after the end of the four-match Test series. With the potential World Test Championship final in June and the ODI World Cup scheduled at home later this year, the Indian management wants Bumrah at his very best in terms of fitness and match practice.

Jasprit Bumrah will return to play during Mumbai Indians’ campaign at the IPL this year where his workload will be monitored.
