Former Australian opener Matthew Hayden offered to help to struggle the Australian Team in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy. Hayden had an excellent outing for Australia in the 2001 tour when the left-hander averaged 110, and  Hayden was also part of the 2004 Australian team – the only Australian side to win a Test series here in India over a long period.

Matthew Hayden who is part of the broadcaster team with Star Sports is open to helping the Australian team and said that he would share his experience with the current generation players. Hayden also worked with Pakistan National Team as a mentor in the 2022 T20 world cup. Speaking to Sydney Morning Herald Hayden said,

“One hundred percent, at any time of the day or night, it is given that me – and I’m sure I speak for anyone else that I represent that would have that kind of influence – would 100 percent be in, Any time I have been asked to do anything I’ve always said yes at any time of day,”. Hayden said.

Former captain Michael Clarke has called for Australian Team to use Hayden’s experience in India. Hayden is probably the only Australian batsman that has had success sweeping in India.

This Is Disaster For Australia – Matthew Hayden on Australia’s Batting Display

Hayden, Australia’s former star opening batter, famously dominated in Indian conditions on the back of his ability to use the sweep shot as a weapon in India. Hayden criticized Australia’s approach in the second innings of the second test. Six of the 10 Australian dismissals came from poorly-attempted sweep or reverse sweep shots.

These are world-class players, and they’ve got everything to win and everything to lose in this session, They did it so well last evening in those few overs. But what we’ve seen here is a disaster for Australia. They’ve gone way over the edge in terms of their aggressive play.” Hayden said on commentary

With India out to an unassailable 2-0 lead in the four-match series, Australia needs at least one draw from the remaining two matches to book their spot in the World Test Championship final later this year in London.
