Legendary batter Sunil Gavaskar has slammed the Australians for criticizing the Nagpur pitch stating that they have no right to complain about the quality of tracks made in India.
The former Indian skipper pointed out that Australian pitches have also come under the scanner lately, pointing out the Brisbane wicket, which saw the Test match between the Aussies and South Africa completed in two days.
“The Aussies have started the mind games by talking about the pitches that were on offer when they toured here last, A country where a Test match finishes in two days has no right to moan about Indian pitches”. he said on Mid-day
“The Brisbane game against South Africa finished in two days. It’s not just the matter of the game finishing in two days, but the kind of pitch that was prepared. With the ball flying all over the place it was dangerous to life and limb. On a turner, the only issue is the reputation of batters that is in danger and not their life and limb.” he further added
I Have Full Confidence In The Indian Batting Unit – Says Sunil Gavaskar
Sunil Gavaskar has heaped praise on the Indian batting unit ahead of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Sunil Gavaskar acknowledged that the Indian batting lineup is strong and others are envious of it.
Sunil Gavaskar during an interview with Hindustan Times:
“Our top batters are probably the envy of the cricketing world. I have full confidence in them. Apart from Cheteshwar Pujara, others may not venture down the pitch, but that doesn’t make their footwork suspect.”
“What a yeoman servant of the game Cheteshwar has been. Brought up the old-fashioned but highly effective way of putting a massive value on his wicket, he is the batter that makes it easy for the others. “I hope he caps his 100th Test match with a huge hundred,” he further added
