The T20 cricket season won’t be ending with the IPL as India is all set to host a 5-match T20I series against South Africa in June. According to a report in Cricbuzz, the series will go on for 11 days across 5 venues. However, the heat in the peak summer of June will be a challenge as it’s generally an off-season for India.

The IPL is all set to be played from March 26 to May 29. The league stage will be played across 4 venues in Mumbai and Pune, the venues for playoffs haven’t been decided yet. A BCCI official confirmed that the South Africa series will go ahead as per plans as it’s a part of ICC’s FTP.

“This is part of the FTP and there were always to be played after the IPL,” a BCCI official said.

As per the report of Cricbuzz, the series will be played from June 9 to 19 and the likely venues of the series will be Cuttack, Vizag, Delhi, Rajkot, and Chennai.

Originally Bengaluru and Nagpur were set to host two of the games in this series, but since Vizag and Cuttack missed out on the West Indies series as it’s restricted to two venues due to the Covid outbreak in the country, those two venues have been given a preference.

It’ll be a long season for India. After the South Africa series, they will travel to Ireland to play two T20Is on June 26 and 28. Then they will travel to England to play the white-ball series comprising 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is. One test between India and England which was postponed due to the Covid outbreak in the Indian camp will also be played this season.

BCCI also gave a green signal to resume the rest of the domestic tournaments which was postponed in January due to the third wave of Covid. CK Nayudu Trophy will be played from March 15 to May 1 while the Senior Women’s T20 league will be played from March 15 to May 1.

The dates of the Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy haven’t been announced yet, but BCCI has agreed to complete the tournament.
