India-West Indies Series Schedule Likely To Be Revised Due To COVID-19

India-West Indies Series: The limited-overs series between India and West Indies which is scheduled to begin on February 6, is likely to be revised amid arise of Covid cases in the country.

As the things stand, West Indies is set a play a series of 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is starting from February 6. West Indies will begin their tour with 3-match starting from February 6 in Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Kolkata respectively.  While Cuttack, Visakhapatnam, and Thiruvananthapuram will host the T20I matches starting from February 15. But the BCCI officials said that the fixtures might be revised.

India will play 3 ODIs and 3 T20IS against West Indies in February: India-West Indies

Sources from BCCI said that the board is having a close eye on the situation and they weighing in for the option to host all 6 games at a single venue. However, there is no panic situation as yet as the visitors have two more weeks to arrive here in India.

West Indies is currently preparing for 5-match T20I series against England starting next week on January 23.

For the past two years, the players have made a habit of moving from one bubble to another in this Covid situation.

Ahead of the series against West Indies, one good news for India is that their ODI and T20I skipper Rohit Sharma has recovered from his hamstring injury and will be available for the home season. Rohit missed the entire South Africa tour due to this injury as India lost the test series by 1-2. ODI series will begin on January 19 as KL Rahul will be stand-in captain for India.

India has a packed home schedule after this South Africa series. Apart from the series against West Indies, India will also host Sri Lanka for a series comprising 2 Tests and 3 T20Is starting on February 25.

Then all Indian players will be busy in IPL for 2-months as this time it will be a 10-team affair. Post-IPL, India will host South Africa for a 5-match T20I series to be played in June. So the BCCI will have to do lots of planning to organize all these series in this chaos.

In last season India hosted England for 4 Tests, 5 T20Is, and 3 ODIs across 3 venues in Chennai, Ahmedabad, and Pune.
