Indian athletes qualifies for Rio Olympics 1

In great news for Indian sports fans, two more Indian athletes have qualified for Rio Olympics. The triple jumper Renjith Maheshwari have made the cut for Rio Olympics while Dharambir Singh has also made the cut for Rio Olympics in the 200 m race.

Renjith Maheshwari will be taking part in his third successive Olympic games. He represented India in 2008 and 2012 Olympics. He qualified for Rio Olympics by jumping a distance of 17.30 at the 4th Indian Grand Prix at Sree Kanterava Stadium in Bangalore. He also went past the Olympic qualification criteria of 16.85 and also crossed Arpinder Singh record of 17.17 m.

Another athlete who has qualified for Rio Olympics is Dharambir Singh in the 200 m race. He also qualified for Rio Olympics at 4th Indian Grand Prix Gold event held at Kanteerava Stadium, Bangalore. Dharambir Singh had the best time of 20.45 who finished at the top as the Olympic qualification mark in this section was 20.50.

The Indian athletes have been on a roll. Apart from the 4X 400 men’s relay team have made the cut to the Rio Olympics. The Indian men’s relay team jumped to 13th place after impressive showing who had the 2nd best timings going into Rio Olympics. The Indian women’s team have almost secured a cut to Rio Olympics.
